Sir Robert Ker Porter (1777-1842), artist and diplomat, noted for his accounts of travels in Spain, Portugal and Russia, and his panoramic paintings. His 'Storming of Seringapatam', 120 feet (37 m) long was exhibited at the Lyceum, displayed as three-quarters of a circle, causing a sensation. He was knighted for his services to the diplomatic corps.
