A fox, pursued by hounds and members of the hunt who run in from the left, takes refuge in the cottage of a farmer, where the wife and daughters wave brooms at the intruders. Reduced copy of an earlier engraving after the painting by John Collet (c.1725-1780), whose works were frequently engraved in the mezzotint 'droll' fashion, as here.
