A facsimile of 'Acta Parl. Mariæ M.D.XLII. App. I. P. 593', by which James Hamilton (c. 1516-75), 2nd Earl of Arran, was made regent for the infant Mary, Queen of Scots, who had been only six days old at her accession. At the time he was second-in-line to the throne. The document is written in Latin and English, and has 18 wax seals remaining of the nobles who witnessed it. William Home Lizars published a number of such facsimiles of important Scottish documents circa 1815.
