Dutch scene of the birth of James Francis Stuart, the Old Pretender (1688-1766), Jacobite claimant to the thrones of England, Scotland and Ireland. James was born at St James's Palace in 1688. With Jacobite verses above (which were published, for instance, accompanying portraits of James' eldest son Charles Edward Stuart).
