George John Romanes (1848-1894), Canadian-born English evolutionary biologist and physiologist, heavily influenced by his friendship with Charles Darwin. Continuing Darwin's work on evolution he coined the expressions 'neo-Darwinism', which is still used today for any updated form of Darwinism, and 'anthropomorphism', the giving to animals of human-like qualities.
