An open area, with workmen measuring and moving stonework on a building site on the left. From Robert Grindlay's (1786-1877) 'Scenery, costumes and architecture, chiefly on the western side of India,' 1826-30. Grindlay, founder of the ANZ Grindlays Bank, came to India in 1803, worked with the East India Company and served with the Seventh Bombay Native Infantry from 1804-1820.
