A plate from 'Cook's Voyage to the Pacific'. A view of a village with numerous thatch constructed houses and buildings. A number of people, Hawaiians and men from Cook's voyage, can be seen conducting trade in the centre of the village. A mountainous landscape is in the background. John Webber (1751-93) travelled with Captain Cook on the Third Voyage (1776-80) as the Official Artist of the expedition, recording the explorer's death at the hand of Hawaiian natives.
