Source de l'Arveiron. Chamonix.
[after Morel?]
[Geneva, c.1850.]
Tinted lithograph. Image 90 x 120mm (3½ x 4¾") plus title. Trimmed as scrap, to image and around title.
A view of the Arveyron river emerging from the Mer de Glace, before merging with the Arve in Chamonix. It shows the grotto-like vault from which the river once emerged, painted by J.M.W. Turner in his 'Source of the Arveron in the Valley of Chamouni Savoy', 1816. This view was probably published in 'Chamonix et Ses Environs', one of Morel's 'Souvenirs de la Suisse' series. It contained 23 tinted lithographic views by Morel, Mottu, Linck and others.
[Ref: 33789] £60.00
