Early state (between BM i and ii) of the portrait of George II by Thomas Worlidge (1700-66). Various 18th century portraits of George II derive from this image. Born in Peterborough, Worlidge, 'the English Rembrandt', was a pupil of Alessandro Maria Grimaldi, whose daughter Arabella he married. His widow issued his plates in 1766 and 1767 after his death with added numbers in the top right corner.
