Souvenir of the Chelsea Historical Pageant.To be Opened on June 25th, by the Princess Louise, Duchess of Argyll, at the Old Ranelagh Gardens, Chelsea Hospital in Aid of the Royal Hospital, Chelsea.

A very rare souvenir handkerchief commemorating the Chelsea Historical Pageant, held from the 25th June to July 1st, 1908, in which a series of historical re-enactments were performed. The 'Master of the Pageant' was J. Harry Irvine, an actor who performed Hamlet and Macbeth on Broadway a decade later. Within a border of flags and leaves is an actor dressed as Charles II, founder of the Royal Hospital. Mrs S. Burgess specialised in these paper souvenirs in the early 20th century.
