A very rare souvenir handkerchief commemorating the Chelsea Historical Pageant, held from the 25th June to July 1st, 1908, in which a series of historical re-enactments were performed. The 'Master of the Pageant' was J. Harry Irvine, an actor who performed Hamlet and Macbeth on Broadway a decade later. Within a border of flags and leaves is an actor dressed as Charles II, founder of the Royal Hospital. Mrs S. Burgess specialised in these paper souvenirs in the early 20th century.
