Souvenir in Commeration of the CoronationJune 22, & 23, 1911.
Printed by S. Burgess, York Place, Buckingham Street, Strand.
Wood engraving on crepe paper, printed in colours. Sheet 390 x 380mm (15¼ x 15"). Torn.
A very rare souvenir handkerchief commemorating the coronation of George V. Within a border of flags and leaves are portraits of George and Queen Mary, the Prince of Wales (Edward VIII), and figures prominent in the ceremony, including the old soldier Earl Roberts. The text gives an order of events and a list of 'The Bearers of the Kings' Regalia. Mrs S. Burgess specialised in these paper souvenirs in the early 20th century, based in York Place, off The Strand; proof-reading was not her strong point.
