Engraving, very large margins. Plate 235 x 171 (9¼ x 6¾"). Water stain and tear lower left of margin.
Portrait of an elderly man with a long beard identified as Antonio di Ponte (c.1512-1597), the Italian architect. He built the Rialto Bridge in Venice with the help of Antonio Contino. From "Schola Italica Picturae sive Selectae Quaedam Summorum e Schola Italica Pictorum Tabulae Aere Incisae Cura et Impensis Gavini Hamilton Pictoris", a series of forty plates.
