Portrait of the Imperial Geographer of the Holy Roman Empire, Johann Baptist Homann (1664-1724) who was born in the Bavarian town of Kammlach. As an Imperial Geographer he had special printing privileges, which were not only the best reference for customers but also gave him exclusive rights in his various endeavors as an engraver, publisher, cartographer, and a scientist. Homann died in Nuremberg. His company lasted until 1848. After a painting of Joannes Krenckel (1688–1722), and engraved by Wilhelm Winter (1696–1765).
