Admiral Sir Charles Hardy (c.1713-1780) was a Royal Navy officer and was made Governor of New York in 1755, and Admiral of the White in command of the grand fleet in 1778. From 1771 to 1780 he also served as governor of Greenwich Hospital and by 1779 he had become Commander-in-Chief of the Channel Fleet.
