Robert Henley (c.1708-72) in his Lord Chancellor's robes. In 1756 he was appointed Attorney General and knighted; in 1760 he became Baron Henley of Grange; in 1761 he became Lord Chanceller, then Lord President of the Council in 1766. In 1764 he became Earl of Northington. The original oil portrait is is the National Portrait Gallery.
