This is one of nine portraits etched by Hollar, when in Antwerp, for a collection of portraits published there by Meyssens in 1649 under the title 'Image de divers hommes desprit sublime'. Peeters was based in Antwerp and this etching is taken from a portrait by the publisher himself. Below the portrait is a biographical note, as Pennington notes, 'in execrable French'.
