From 'Military Evolutions', a scarce set of 30 aquatints of the Allied cavalry during the French Revolutionary Wars, published 1799-1802. Conrad Gessner (Swiss, 1764-1826), was in London from 1796 to 1804, exhibiting at the RA 1797-1803. The British Museum has the original brush drawing, in brown-grey wash, heightened with white (oxidised), over graphite.
