Princess Sophia (1777-1848) was the twelfth child of King George III and Queen Charlotte. She is known for rumours surrounding a supposed illegitimate child to which she gave birth as a young woman. There is a lot of speculation over the father of her child, including Thomas Garth, an equerry of her father's, and the product of rape by her elder brother the Duke of Cumberland.
