Henrick Ibsen (1828-1906) was a Norwegian playwright, theatre director and poet. He is often referred to as "the father" of the modern theatre and was one of the founders of Modernism in the theatre. His play "The Master Builder" of 1892 was one of Ibsen's most significant and revealing works, which explored more psychological conflicts that transcended a simple rejection of current conventions.
