Sir James Hawkins Whitshed (1762-1849) was Admiral of the Fleet, of the British Royal Navy. He served during the American Revolutionary War and the French Revolutionary Wars. In 1803 he was appointed Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, and four years later he went on to be Commander-in-Chief at Cork. In 1821 he was appointed Commander-in-Chief, Portsmouth.
