A very rare engraving. 165 x 95mm. 6½ x 3¾".
John Harriott (1745-1817) Projector of the London Thames Police. Influential in the founding of the river Police to protect the trade on the Thames. An interesting man who had seen action and survived a shipwreck before he was 25 years old. He attempted to improve his lot in India and America and while having not trained as a lawyer became a Magistrate.
