Carl Maria Friedrich Ernst von Weber (1786-1826) was a German composer, conductor, pianist, guitarist and critic. He was an influtential figure in the development of Romantic opera in Germany. His other vocal compositions were significant in terms of popularity and that he was one the earliest composers to write song-cycles.
