[LS] Dear Dubourg, May I ask your attendance at the Meeting referred to in the accompanying Circular?...It is proposed among some lovers of the drama, who believe that a move might be made at this time towards the establishment of a theatre having in view the encouragement of the dramatic Art rather than pecuniary profit... to hold a meeting with a view to consider the preliminary steps...for the realization of this object. The first meeting...will be held at ¼ past four on Monday the 24th of July at 8, Richmond Terrace, Whitehall.

A fascinating piece of correspondence relating to the proposed establishment of a new London theatre, or academy of drama. Augustus W. Dubourg was the author of several plays and great-grandson of Matthew Dubourg (1703 - 1767), violinist.
