Pieter van Foreest (1521-1597), a leading physician of the Netherlands, town physician of Delft and personal physician of Prince William of Orange (the Silent), whose autopsy he performed after he was assassinated. Starting his university education at Leuven, he then began a study tour through several european universities, from 1540. He stayed three years in Bologna, where he travelled also to Padua, Venice and Ferrara. Following his graduation at the University of Bologna in 1543, he went on to work in Rome and Paris. Published in Isaac Bullart's 'Académie des Sciences et des Arts'.
