Dimitry D. Kuruta (1770-1833). George Dawe (1781-1829) spent from 1819 to 1828 in St Petersburg, invited by Tsar Alexander to paint the portraits of the superior officers who had fought in the Napoleonic Wars. Over 300 of these are in the Hermitage Museum.
