Thos. J. Wigney, George Hotel Commercial Inn & Posting House, Huddersfield.
J: Brook, Sc. Hudd.
24 September 1853 [in pencil.]
Cut.
By 1840 Thomas Jennings Wigney had succeeded his father as landlord of the "George" Hotel, which appeared to be a strange move, for Thomas was a surgeon and had been working at the Huddersfield and Upper Agbrigg Infirmary and also had pursued a private practice in the town. He rose to the challenge and accomplished the translation from the Market Place to St. George's Square, although in 1866 he relinquished the tenancy.
[Ref: 15121] £50.00
