An allegorical message for the British. A lion reclining lazily under an oak tree with the balance of justice under one paw and the sword in the other. The Crown Jewels lay over and above him. The left of the image represents the infantry of the British Army. The merchant ships in the top right represent trade and prosperity. The anchor represents the Royal Navy, and the eagle staff entwined with snakes represents life-giving powers. The bees respresent sustinance.
