Born 1846, Burgess was an etcher, engraver, bookplate illustrator and architect, active in London 1874-1908. One of the finest etchers of the old tradition, influenced by Seymour Haden and represented in the Victoria & Albert Museum, British Museum. He exhibited at the Royal Academy. This unusally large scene is combining his talent for both landscape and architecture.
