Whitby Abbey, a ruined Benedictine abbey sited on the East Cliff above Whitby harbour in North Yorkshire. It was founded in 657 AD by the Anglo-Saxon King of Northumbria, Oswy (Oswiu). Figures and cattle to foreground.
