Adelaide, a shepherdess, leading her flock through a gate. Illustrates 'Adelaide, or the Shepherdess of the Alps' by Jean François Marmontel (1723 - 1799), French author and friend of Voltaire. By Thomas Simpson (1765 - 1799; fl.), engraver, printseller and drawing master. He exhibited at the Society of Artists 1765-78.
