A panorama, or 'Typorama', of Rome created by George Danson (1799-1881), with St. Peter's Basilica behind the Ponte Sant'Angelo, with the Castel Sant'Angelo on the right. The audience stand at the side of a lake representing the 'Tiber'. At night St Peter's was illuminated and there was a firework show around the Castell Sant' Angelo, organised by the Gardens' pyrotechnist Joseph Southby. The same image was used when the typorama was exhibited in Hull. See Item 64467 for an advertising poster for the gardens and the view of Rome.
