Anthony Imre Alexander Gross (1905-1984), war artist and etcher, known for designing the dust jacket for the first edition of Lord of the Flies. He was made CBE in 1982. This scene was etched in 1929 but only a few proofs were taken. This posthumous printing was in an edition of 500, most signed by his daughter, Mary West.

An elevated view of a Continental city with four bridges. Johnstone Baird (1872-1935). Born in Ayrshire, studied Glasgow School of Art. Naval architect with the Admiralty 1917-19. He travelled widely on the Continent. Exhibited 1910-30.
