An Elevated View of the New Docks & Warehouses now constructing on the Isle of Dogs near Limehouse for the Reception of Shipping in the West India Trade.

Aquatint, printed in colours and hand-finished. 480 x 800mm (19 x 31½"). Trimmed to plate, some restoration in sky, toning in edges. Some very light cockling.
A wonderful bird's-eye view, looking across West India Docks towards London. William Daniell RA (1769-1837) was one of the few artists of the period who was as skilled as an aquatinter as he was a painter.

An exterior view of the Old Royal Academy in Pall Mall. The Royal Academy was initially housed in cramped quarters in Pall Mall, in 1771 it was given temporary accommodation for its library and schools in Old Somerset House, then a royal palace.
