Portrait of Colonel Du Pré Alexander, 2nd Earl of Caledon (1777 - 1839), Irish politician, militia officer and colonial administrator who was the second child and only son of James Alexander, 1st Earl of Caledon. In July 1806 he was appointed Governor of the Cape of Good Hope in what is now South Africa.
