An untitled scene of a springer spaniel in woodland, watching a duck startled from a pool. The painting, by George Barret (1732-84), was exhibited at the Society of Artists of Great Britain in 1768. Lord Edward Charles Bentinck (1744-1819) was the younger brother of William Henry Cavendish Bentinck, 3rd Duke of Portland. He was MP for Lewes at the time this was painted. See: Siltzer pg 383.
