A writing sheet with eight agricultural scenes. Above is a large view of Stanborough Farm, with six panels down the sides (Sowing, Reaping, Going to Market, Ploughing, Sheep Shearing and 'Gathering Apple's'), and a vignette of a hay wain at the bottom. Only one panel is humorous, perhaps as a treat for a bored pupil: 'Gathering Apple's' in the bottom right shows a man falling head-first from a tree.

A couple carrying a baby, the handle of a saw protruding from the man's pack. The blank area botom right would be for either overprinting or a hand written note. By Sir Hubert von Herkomer (1849 - 1914), painter, watercolourist, draughtsman and etcher of portraits, landscapes, genre subjects. In 1869 he began working as an artist for a newly-founded newspaper 'The Graphic'. Herkomer was also a pioneering film maker: he established a studio at Lululaund (his Romanesque revival style house and studio in Melbourne Road, Bushey, Hertfordshire) and directed a number of historical costume dramas, designed to be shown accompanied by his own music.
