Etching, extremely scarce. Sheet 355 x 560mm (14 x 22"). Trimmed to printed border at top, into image at sides and around title at bottom, mounted in album paper. Printers' crease.
A copy of Rigaud's 'Prospect of Hampton Court from the Garden Side', published 1736, etched by Bartholomew Rocque (d.1767), brother of mapmaker John Rocque. Bartholomew's main interest was gardening and he owned a farm in Waltham Green that is marked on his brother's map of London. In 1736 John had published an estate plan of Hampton Court: this was perhaps intended as a companion piece.
A comparison with a proof in the Royal Collection (RCIN 702881) suggests this example lacks c.10cm of image on the left and 1cm on the right.

The albums were rediscovered at the beginning of this century and were loaned to Hampton Court for an exhibition in 2016. A plan of the Aviary in Kew Gardens, as designed by the Scottish architect Sir William Chambers (1723-1796). Kew Palace, as seen from Brentford.
J.Gendall Del.t. T. Sutherland Sculp.t.
London. Published Jan.y 1819 at R. Ackermann's Repository of Arts, 101 Strand.
Aquatint, printed in colours and hand finished. 395 x 505mm (5½ x 19¾"), with narrow margins.
A view of the 'third' Kew Palace, begun in 1802 by James Wyatt with much input from George III. It was much-ridiculed: in 1820 John Bew, in his 'The ambulator; or, The stranger's companion in a tour round London', wrote; 'This Angleo-Teutonic, castellated, gothized structure, (which has never been completed, and probably never will be,) must be considered as an abortive production, at once illustrative of bad taste and defective judgement'. The Prince Regent didn't like it and after the George III’s confinement at Windsor Queen Charlotte refused to live there. In 1828 it was demolished with the interiors used elsewhere: the main staircase was installed in Buckingham Palace.

[The Enthusiastic Reception of Mr. Palmer into Kingston June 20th 1826. If ever there was a free Election is has been this.]
J.S. Alpenny June 1826.
Lithograph. Sheet 225 x 330mm (9 x 13"). Trimmed, losing title at bottom and into printed border at top, stains. Old ink mss obscuring the text of a banner (''Palmer for Independence''), and added numeral bottom right.
A view of Kingston Market, with a crowd celebrating the election of Charles Nicholas Pallmer (1772-1848). Pallmer, a Whig, was a slave-owner in the West Indies. As M.P. Ludershall, (1815–17) he fought against William Wilberforce's slave registry bill. After becoming MP for Surrey in this election he campaigned for not only for compensation for slave-owners should ownership be banned but also Catholic emancipation. He did not contest the 1830 election, claiming 'health reasons' but in reality he was heavily in debt. He fled to Europe before he was made bankrupt the following year.
