Ecton formerly Eketon, Echington, & in Domesday Book Echentone in Andferdesho Hundred) a Village in the Hundred of Hamfordshoe 5 miles Eastward of Northampton, 66 miles from London, in Lat: 52 Deg: 15 min: consists of about go Familys and 420 Inhabitants, Baptisms yearly about 14, Burials 10, Here were 3 manors...This Church was dedicated to St Mary Magdalen, and the Wake or Feast is kept on the Sund.y after ye. 22.d July. It consists of a Body, North and South Ile, North and South Porch, and Chancel...In removing the Earth many Sculls and Bones lying in order from East to West were dug up, and among them two Silver Coins of the Size of a Silvers pence of the following Impression (£) (The Reverse probably may be Folceard Monetarius Northamtoniae~). Fine & rare lithograph, sheet 305 x 225mm. 12 x 9".
The stately triangular Geddington cross, with its canopied statues surmounted by a slender hexagonal pinnacle, is the best-preserved of only three intact surviving 'Eleanor' crosses. The others stand at Hardingstone near Northampton, and Waltham Cross, Hertfordshire. In 1290 Eleanor of Castile, the beloved wife of Edward I and mother of his 14 children, died at Harby in Nottinghamshire. The places where her body rested on the journey south to its tomb in Westminster Abbey were marked by stone crosses. Not in Abbey.

A view of the Eleanor Cross at Hardingstone, marking where the body of Queen Eleanor rested on the night of 8 December 1290, on its journey to burial in Westminster Abbey. Built at the cost of over £100, it is now one of only three that survive out of the orginal twelve.

Very rare lithograph, sheet 265 x 370mm (10½ x 14½"), with large margins. Foxing.
A view of a building in the village of Marston St. Lawrence in Northamptonshire. Most likely Marston house. The house dates back to either the Elizabethan or Jacobean era, with one wing featuring a panelled room that has an intricately carved overmantel inscribed with the date 1611. However, the house was entirely rebuilt between 1700 and 1730, making the current structure either Queen Anne or early Georgian in style. It is now a Grade II listed building.

John Boydell's 'Collection of Views' was made after he turned from engraver to print publisher in 1767. The first collection was issued in 1770, and included some plates by printmakers other than himself.
