London, Published by Thomas Mc.Lean, Publisher to Her Majesty, April 16th 1889, 7, Haymarket, S.W.
Mixed method engraving, open-letter state. 700 x 540mm (27¾ x 21¼").

This is from one of numerous child and dog paintings executed by Charles Burton Barber (1845-1894) towards the end of his life. He attained great success with his paintings of children with their pets; during his life he received commissions from Queen Victoria, and a number of his portraits are in the Royal Collection.
