A scene in a chaotic nursery. A man enters the door holding a note (presumably the Prime Minister at the time). Queen Victoria (1819-1901) tends to three small children saying, "Her M-j-y promises a Stock as numerous as her Royal Grandmother Ch-tte gave to a delightful Nation." While Prince Albert (1819-61) is on all fours giving Albert Edward Prince of Wales (1841–1910) a donkey ride who shouts, "Come, dear Papa you know a great French King used to let his sons ride on his back - and I am nothing like so heavy as I shall be in a few more years when our dear kind friend John Bull will have to bear me!"

It was excavated by Francesco La Vega from 1771 to 1774 and named after Marcus Arrius Diomedes, whose grave is opposite the entrance to the villa, though it is not clear that it was his villa

An oval portrait of an old woman, ledger with 'Ladies' Subscriptions', quill and ink. When Richard ‘Beau’ Nash became Master of Ceremonies at Tunbridge Wells Assembly Rooms in 1735, he employed Sarah Porter to assist in touting or enlisting subscribers. She would greet visitors at the door of the ballroom is if she knew them, enquiring after a relative, before asking them to pay a subscription: if they refused, she would shadow them around the room, ledger and quill in hand, until they gave in and paid up. However rude people became Sarah never responded in kind. She continued in the role until 1762. CS 27.

Lord Moira (Rawdon) (1754-1816) , dressed as Rolla from Sheridan’s Pizarro (1799), stands in profile with his right arm outstretched and left hand resting on a short sheathed sword. His costume, a short fringed tunic with bare muscular limbs, clashes with his whiskers and small pigtail. Two bench corners suggest the setting is the House of Lords. Joseph Ruse was a 19th century paper maker at the Upper Tovil Mill in Kent, England. BM Satires 10020.

A sailor of the Royal Navy returns from sea, awash with prize money. He is richly dressed and gives his love gifts of money and a watch. Behind is a wagon with the Royal Standard and 'N.º 25' on the canvas. A pair to 'Adieux du Matelot'. The scene is probably referring to the return of Admiral Anson from his voyage around the world (1740-4). The siver captured from the Spanish treasure ship filled 30 wagons; each ordinary seaman received about £300 prize money, equivalent to 20 years' wages. Engraved after Louis Philippe Boitard, a French-born printmaker based in London and frequently considered one of the finest satirists of his day. Provenance Cornwell House.

A satire of the pride of woman, based around the fashion of ruffs. A woman sits on a chair, her wide, ruffed collar being starched by a devilish figure with a beehive on its head, watched by an elegantly dressed gentleman. Two other monstrosities sit starching collars that they hang on sticks on the wall. In the doorway stands Death in the form of a skeleton with a scythe. In 'Winter' a large family have breakfast in a cottage; in 'Summer' the family sit outside enjoying the weather, the children eating as the man smokes a pipe.

An illustration from Clarke's 'Life of Wellington', depicting the siege of Seringapatam (5 April 4 May 1799) was the final confrontation of the Fourth Anglo-Mysore War between the British East India Company and the Kingdom of Mysore. Two officers standing at left beside a flag-bearer, as troops storm through a large archway at right with Indian soldiers lined along the top of the walls.

A copy of the aquatint by Cardon and Schiavonetti (1802), published in the ''Historical Record of the Seventy-Third Regiment: containing an account of the formation of the Regiment from the period of its being raised as the Second Battalion of the Forty-Second Highlanders in 1780 and of its subsequent services to 1851'.'

Full-length portrait of William Seymour, 2nd Duke of Somerset (1588-1660), standing to the right, turning his gaze toward the viewer, holding a staff before him in his left hand, while his right elbow rests on a draped ledge; he is dressed in armour with a medallion and a plain square collar, with tents and soldiers visible in the background. Seymour was a royalist commander in Civil War. William Scott (fl.1835), primarily a portrait painter, however also published prints after his work.
