He died in 1855 and, like his owner, is buried at Frogmore in Windsor Home Park. The original drawing belongs to Her Majesty the Queen, and hangs at Frogmore. A small girl with her pug puts money into a basket around the neck of a plaintive beggar's dog. This is from one of numerous child and dog paintings executed by Charles Burton Barber (1845-1894) towards the end of his life. He attained great success with his paintings of children with their pets; during his life he received commissions from Queen Victoria, and a number of his portraits are in the Royal Collection.
