Paul.

Lady Molyneux stands on the edge of a terrace, one arm resting on the base of pillar while she holds the skirt on her dress in her hand. Behind her rests a large grecian vase.

A full length portrait of Sir Edmund Nagle (1757-1830), dressed for the coronation of George IV. A close friend of George, he rose to the rank of Admiral, becoming Groom of the Bedchamber when George became king. From Sir G. Nayler's "The Coronation of His Most Sacred Majesty King George the Fourth, solemnized in the Collegiate Church of Saint Peter Westminster upon the Nineteenth Day of July MDCCCXXI". Nayler only published two of the five proposed parts (1823 & 1827); it was completed by George Henry Bohn and issued in 1837.

Elizabeth Napier, nee Greenway (fl.1765) was wife of Francis, 3rd Son of Francis Scott, 6th Baron Napier. This print was engraved by Richard Purcell, using Corbutt as one of his many pseudonyms, as his prints were mainly piracies of other mezzotints. Both he and Sayer managed to avoid prosecution for copyright infringement.

An oval portrait of Sir Henry Neville (1564-1615), courtier, politician and diplomat noted for his role as ambassador to France and his unsuccessful attempts to negotiate between James I of England and the Houses of Parliament. He has also been credited with writing the works of Shakespeare. Based on a stipple by William Nelson Gardiner after Harding's father, Silvester (Sylvester) Harding's preparatory sketch of a painting, possibly that of Marcus Gheeraerts the Younger (1599).

Rare early mezzotint of Barbara Palmer [née Villiers] (1640 - 1709), mistress of Charles II during the 1660s, created Duchess of Cleveland in 1670. Cleveland was the first acknowledged royal mistress in Britain for some centuries and was both admired and feared for her influence, beauty and personality. For all the criticisms of her extravagant expenditure and her (as well as the king's) infidelities, she maintained her position for some ten years and secured great wealth and high honours for her children.

Josslyn Francis Pennington (1834-1917), 5th and final Baron Muncaster, MP for for Cumberland West 1872-80 then Egremont from 1885-92, most famous for his involvement in the 'Dilessi Murders'. In 1870 Pennington was sightseeing near Marathon in Greece when he and his companions were abducted by brigands. He was released in order to negotiate for the others, but a bungled rescue attempt by the Greek army led to the deaths of the hostages, causing a crisis between Greece and Great Britain. Pennington's journal of the misadventure was first published in 1989, with Richmond's portrait on the cover.

As heiress to the 11th Earl of Northumberland, her husband was made Earl of Northumberland in 1750, before being made Duke of Northumberland in 1766. She became a Lady of the Bedchamber to Queen Charlotte in 1761.

Gem portrait of Sir Hugh Percy (1714-86), 1st Duke of Northumberland. Born Hugh Smithson he took the name Percy when he married Lady Elizabeth Seymour, Baroness Percy. He was a patron of Canaletto, Robert Adam and Thomas Chippendale. His illegitimate son, James Smithson (1765-1829), made the founding bequest and provided the name for the Smithsonian Institution.

Portrait of Lucy, Countess of Carlisle, full-length standing before a column with hand on curtain. Lucy Hay, Countess of Carlisle (1599-1660) was an English courtier known for her beauty and wit. She was involved in many political intrigues during the English Civi War, and became second wife to James Hay, 1st Earl of Carlisle. She is known for disclosing to her cousin Robert Devereux, Earl of Essex of the King's intended arrest of the five members of Long Parliament, which enabled Essex and the other to escape. She was a political friend of Strafford and Pym. From Gunst's series of ten plates after van Dyck, made 1713-15, from the Cracherode bequest.
