Three-quarter length portrait of Admiral Thomas Griffin (1693-1771), standing turned to the right before a tree, his right elbow resting on a ledge and his left hand on his sword’s hilt. He faces the viewer, dressed in a richly brocaded suit with broad cuffs, a pale waistcoat, and a shoulder-length wig. In the background to the right, a ship sails on the water. Griffin was a Royal Navy officer who served in the War of Jenkins' Ear. He later became Commander-in-Chief of the East Indies Station. CS 54.

Portrait of Hyder Ali (c.1720 - 1782), the Sultan and de facto ruler of the Kingdom of Mysore in southern India. Born as Hyder Ali, he distinguished himself as a soldier, eventually drawing the attention of Mysore's rulers. During intermittent conflicts against the East India Company during the First and Second Anglo–Mysore Wars, Hyder Ali was the military leader. He is seated, showing his left profile, his left arm stretch out in front of him.

A three-quarter portrait of William Harcourt (1743-1830), 3rd Earl Harcourt, seated in chair surmounted by a coronet, holding a large book propped upright on his knee. He wears a ceremonial robe over his uniform. A career soldier, Harcourt commanded his regiment at the Battle of White Plains and then captured General Charles Lee at Basking Ridge during the American Revolutionary War, and succeeded the Duke of York as commander of the British Army during the Flanders Campaign in 1795. Two doctors quarrel over which remedy is suited, one holds a medicine bottle and the other a pill. Another woman in the right foreground is looking through a trunk.

The bust of Warren Hastings FRS (1732 - 1811), British colonial administrator, who served as the first governor of the Presidency of Fort William, the head of the Supreme Council of Bengal, and so the first governor-general of Bengal in 1772–1785. He and Robert Clive are credited with laying the foundation of the British Empire in India.

The title is a London Cry, 'Hastings, ho, rare Hastings', hastings being early peas. Infantry guardsmen demonstrate ten swordplay techniques: Lessons 1–8, shown on either side, each feature a lone Highland guard illustrating positions such as Outside Guard, Inside Guard, St George's Guard, Hanging Guard, Outside Half Hanger, Inside Half Hanger, Medium Guard, and Half Circle. Lessons 9 and 10, depicted at the top, show two figures in combat—one illustrating "The consequence of not shifting the leg," where a hussar is injured, and the other "The advantage of shifting the leg." A collection of plates from the account of a tour in India by Godfrey Charles Munday (1804-1860), including tiger hunting from elephants and hunting with leopards. An army officer who served in India and Australia, he became Permanent Under Secretary for War during the Crimean War then Lieutentant Governor of Jersey.

A scene depicting a rat, full from stolen food. The Sultan approaches on the back of an elephant, adorned with beautiful blankets and goods, with him, his parrot, his favourite dog and a monkey. The rat having expressed that the elephant is a clumsy animal with little beauty, is paid for her excess as a cat catches her.
