Ex collection of Alfred Morrison (1821-97), described by Lugt as ''one of the most passionate collectors of his time''.

Sir George Savile, 8th Baronet (1726-1784) was an English politician; seated here with plans marked 'The Calder Navigation', Halifax. This is a reference to his 'Letter of Sir George Savile, Bart. on an attempt made to interfere with the Aire and Calder Navigation in the year 1772'. He defended the actors of the American Colonists and a member of American Philosophical Society, founded in 1743 in Philadelphia. He is listed on Wilberforce's list of Abolitionists. After Benjamin Wilson (1721-88), painter and electrical scientist. A related painting of Savile by Wilson from 1751 is in Temple Newsam House, Leeds.

This was one of three plates by Roberts and Jones illustrating the Marlborough Theatricals.

A portrait of Sir John Taylor (1745-86), a fellow of the Royal Society who was created a baronet of Lysson Hall in Jamaica. Taylor became a baronet on 1st September 1778. In the same year he married an heiress, Elizabeth Godden Houghton. His eldest brother became a Jamaican attorney who represented the large number of absentee plantation owners and he was reputedly the richest person in Jamaica. Taylor lived in London but died in Jamaica in 1786.

A portrait of William Williams (1774-1839), MP for the united boroughs of Weymouth and Melcombe Regis, seated on a ceremonial chair, dressed in his masonic regalia, large tomes leaning against the chair. Williams was a member of The Knights Templar (The United Religious, Military and Masonic Orders of the Temple and of St John of Jerusalem, Palestine, Rhodes and Malta); in 1836 Prince Augustus Frederick (the Duke of Sussex) raised Dorset to the status of a Province, with Williams the first Provincial Grand Commander. The death of Williams three years later curtailed the province's activities.

A portrait of a Ottoman woman, thought at the time to be wife of Sultan Ibrahim I. An Ottoman convoy travelling from Constantinople was attacked in 1644 by the Knights Hospitaller of Malta, the ship was filled with pilgrims headed for Mecca. Historians have since disputed whether the woman captured was actually the wife of Sultan Ibrahim I. From 'Theatrum Europeaum' 1707 by Johann Peter Lotichius.
