The Exchange Building standing proudly in the Market Square of Nottingham. The building was built to act as the meeting place of the Corporation of Nottingham, and it was demolished in 1926. A bustling street sceen with carriage, carts, dtreet vendors and people. The shop signs of each premises is clearly printed, allowing an identification of the various businesses in operation in the area at that time.

A wonderful coloured image of the market place.

Pair of very rare sepia tinted lithographs heightened in white, each sheet 340 x 440mm (13¼ x 17¼").
Cattle and figures, including marching soldiers, in the landscaped grounds of The Park Estate, a 150-acre private residential estate just to the west of Nottingham. It was built in what was once the deer park of Nottingham Castle. Major development began in the 1820s under the fourth Duke of Newcastle, despite much opposition from locals, who regarded the area as public land. Development continued under the Fifth Duke, Henry Pelham Clinton, who appointed Thomas Chambers Hine, the city's finest architect, to design the great houses. Today, the Park Estate is one of the most remarkable residential estates in the whole of the United Kingdom, and although many of the huge Victorian Gothic mansions have been converted into flats, it retains much of its original character, including the original gas lighting network believed to be one of the largest in Europe.

A school yard scene depicting boys playing cricket. The school appears to be what is known as the Old College, Windermere built for the Rev Addison by Abraham Pattinson who opened it as St. Mary’s College in September 1853. In 1855 the college was bought by Benjamin Irving and George Hale Puckle of Nine Oaks. They became joint headmasters and renamed the establishment.

A plan and wildly imaginative reconstruction of the Saxon hill fort at Old Sarum, near Salisbury, Wiltshire, with an extensive engraved description. The reconstruction owes more to medieval development than Saxon. The print was also produced in Salisbury, appealing to local interest in the history of Old Sarum. Old Sarum is perhaps best-known in art history as the subject of a painting by John Constable.

A view of the mound near Salisbury where an iron age fortress once stood, the site was used until the medieval period. From about 1829 Constable and Lucas worked together on a series of mezzotints after sketches and paintings by Constable called 'Various Subjects of Landscape...' published in parts between 1830 and 1832. In 1843 Charles Robert Leslie published his 'Memoirs of John Constable Esq. R.A'. He obtained directly from the Constable family 186 sets of 22 images of the Various Subjects of Landscape in return for 30 copies of his book. This mezzotint is one of those; "see Tate John Constable, David Lucas".

The Old Wye Bridge, an iron bridge designed and built by John Urpeth Rastrick in 1816, now the largest iron arch road bridge remaining from the first half-century of iron and steel construction. It was built by the Bridgnorth firm of Hazeldine, Rastrick & Co., at a cost of £17,850, less than half the estimate of a rival design by John Rennie. Rastrick built the London-Brighton Railway in 1841.

View of the Royal residence Osborne House on the Isle of Wight. The new Osborne House was built in the style of the Italian Renaissance complete with two pseudo campanile towers between 1845 and 1851. Prince Albert designed the house himself in conjunction with Thomas Cubitt, the London architect and builder whose company also built the main façade of Buckingham Palace. The sale of the Royal Pavilion at Brighton paid for much of the new house's furnishings. The Stationers' Company had published the Stationers' Almanack since 1747, a single-sheet illustrated calendar that recorded significant events of the preceding year.

Daughter of the a Mercian sub-king called Dida of Eynsham, Frithuswith was abbess of the Oxford nunnery. A stained glass window Edward Burne-Jones, showing her hiding from an unwanted suitor, is near her shrine.
