Elizabeth Scott (née Montagu), Duchess of Buccleuch (1743-1827), the only daughter and heir of George, duke of Montagu. In 1767 she married Henry Scott, third Duke of Bucchleuch. She inherited the Montagu estates, largely in Northamptonshire, in 1790. Together with her husband she was involved in charitable work such as the founding of Edinburgh's Royal Blind Asylum and School.

Reverend Zachariah Mudge (1694-1769), a clergyman known for his sermons, painted by Reynolds three times, in 1761, 1762 & 1766. When his friend John Smeaton finished the Eddystone Lighthouse in 1759, the pair sang the Old Hundredth Psalm as a thanksgiving from the top of the lighthouse.

A young Dutchman playing a violin in an interior, a lute hanging on the wall behind. On the table is a small loaf of bread and a jug. The monogram, that of Thomas Blayds (1795-1849), a banker of Surrey, was identified in 1977. The British Museum has antiquities and drawings from his collection.

The painting was in the collection of William V, Prince of Orange at the time this print was published by John Boydell.

He edited volumes of "Vitruvius Britannicus," and published two large volumes on "Mansions" in 1783. In 1785 he was appointed High Sheriff of Surrey. The younger James bequeathed the original oil to the Bodleian Library.

John Charrington (1856-1939) was Honorary Keeper of Prints at the Fitzwilliam Museum, cataloguing their entire collection. In 1933 he donated to the museum 5000-6000 prints it did not already possess and funded a new print room to house them.

Sir William Robinson (1705-1785), second Baronet of Rokeby Park, Yorkshire. The painting was in the collection of his younger brother, The Most Rev. Dr Richard Robinson, Church of Ireland Lord Primate of All Ireland and Lord Archbishop of Armagh, who was made Baron Rokeby of Armagh, also in 1777. The artist is Matthew William Peters (1742-1814), most famous for his provocative painting of a courtesan (known as 'Lydia' in the mezzotint copy). He came to regret his choice of subject, as he was ordained in 1781, becoming the Royal Academy's chaplain (1784-8), then chaplain to the Prince of Wales. The portrait was published between Robinson's succession to the baronetcy in 1777 and Peters' ordination in 1781.

A half-length portrait of a young boy within a stonework window with a curtain. Challoner Smith identifies the boy as the son of Lieutenant-General William Skinner (1700-80), Chief Royal Engineer from 1757 until his death); however General Skinner's only son, Captain William Campbell, was killed on Dominica in 1761. It is probable that this is a grandson: a William Campbell Skinner, captain of the Royal Engineers was killed in 1787.

Underneath is engraved text paying tribute to his philanthropy, which went alongside his acquiring 'one of the Largest and best Circumstanced Estates in Ireland'. Engraved by James Watson after the Irish portrait painter Jeremiah 'Jerry' Barrett (c.1723-70). Watson also engraved a portrait of Richard Stacpoole which states that the 'Stacpooles of the County of Clare' such as John Stacpoole are descended from him. Both appear to have been issued as private plates for the Stacpoole family and their acquaintances.

Sir Richard Stacpoole of Pembrokeshire. Who was knighted by William the Conqueror. The different Welch Historians & the old Records of that Principality mention him amoung the most respectable Men in the Year one thousand & ninety one, being the fourth Year of the Reign of King William Rufus. He married Margaret, second Sister of Sir Richard Turbervile Lord of Coyty, and died without Issue. Robert the only Brother of Sir Richard Stacpoole, married a Daughter of Sir John Sitsylt or Cecill, Ancestor to Sir William Cecil Lord Burghley, & Lord High Treasurer of England in the Reign of Queen Elizabeth. Sir William Stacpoole his eldest Son married a Daughter of Howel ap Ithel, Lord of Roos & Ryuonioc, now Denbighland. Said Sir William had a Command in an army raised in the Reign of King Stephen, against David King of Scots, but died young, leaving three Sons & one Daughter. His eldest Son Sir Richard Stacpoole of Stacpoole in the County of Pembroke, married a Daughter of Sir Henry Vernon of Haddon in the Peke. No mention is made of the second Son, but Robert the youngest encouraged by his Cousin Robert Fitz Stephen, went over to Ireland with Richard Earl of Strigule known by the Name of Strongbow, & was a Captain of Archers in that Division of the Army which Fitz Stephen commanded under Strongbow, in the Year eleven hundred & sixty eight, being the fourteenth Year of King Henry the second. Said Robert afterwards settled in Ireland & from him the Stacpooles of the County of Clare are descended. The old Mansion of Stacpoole Court, & a large Estate in Pembrokeshire descended to a Grand-daughter of the second Sir Richd. Stacpoole, & is now the Property of the Son of the late Pryse Campbell Esq. who was Member for that County.

Half-length portrait of merhcant John Tamesz Grieve (1724-87, baptised James), born in St Petersburg while his father, Dr James Grieve (1703-63), was Physician to Empress Elizabeth. He died in Petersham, Surrey, and a memorial was erected in Bath Abbey, near one for his mother, Elizabeta Tamesz (1724-1758).

A full length portrait of Robert Walpole (1676-1745) who dominated Parliament as de facto Prime Minister between 1721 and 1742. This portrait was published as frontispiece to Volume II of Boydell's series of prints of Walpole's art collection at Houghton, engraved after the collection was sold by the 3rd Earl in 1779, including 206 sold to Catherine the Great of Russia to decorate her Hermitage palace.
