Set of four aquatints with some later colouring. Ex Ackerman. Printed area: 370 x 510mm. 14.5 x 20". Unexamined out of frame.
Richard Reeve (1780-1835), after Dean Wolstenholme Snr. (1757-1837) 'Fox Chase', four aquatints printed in colour. Two verses accompany each scene. Both Dean Wolstenholme snr. and his son of the same name, were sportsmen and huntsmen, whose careers overlaped by some eighteen or nineteen years. Whilst Wolstenholme jnr. was both a painter and engraver, Wolstenholme snr. never engraved.

Framed mezzotint. 545 x 640mm (21½ x 25¼"). A superb impression with good margins; unexamined out of attractive 19th century veneered wooden frame, behind old rippled glass.
The hounds belonging to William Harry Vane, 1st Duke of Cleveland and Earl of Darlington (1766 - 1842) coming to eat at troughs in their kennels. The dog-feeder Leonard in centre wears top hat and waistcoat, the huntsman Sayer stands in the doorway at right. Hounds named below image, with arms bearing the motto 'Nec Temere Nec Timide'. A great British sporting print, first published 1809, after Henry Bernard Chalon (1771-1849).
