Caroline of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel, later Queen Caroline (1768 - 1821), was the wife of George IV from 1795, and his queen consort from 29 January 1820 until her death. Shortly after giving birth to Princess Charlotte of Wales, Carolin and George separated, and after she moved to Italy in 1814 rumours surrounding her relationship with her servant Bartolomeo Pergami (also spelt Bergami) culminated in her trial for adultery in 1820. This portrait was published during the investigation.

Sir Thomas Millington (1628-1704), physician in ordinary to William III (whose body he helped dissect) and Mary II, and later to Queen Anne. While in conversation with Nehemiah Grew (1641-1712, known as the ''Father of Plant Anatomy''), the pair agreed that a plant's stamen serves as the male organ for the production of the seed; the concept was published by Grew in the ''Anatomy of Plants'' in 1682, and is regarded as a major milepost in the development of botanical science. Published in Robert John Thornton's 'New illustration of the Sexual System of Carolus von Linnaeus'.

A scene from Robert Southey's epic poem, 'Roderick the Last of the Goths'. Having lived as a hermit in penitance for raping Florinda, Roderick, king of the Visigoths, returns to lead the armies of Spain against the Moors, here unseating and killing a Moorish leader.

Gioachino Antonio Rossini (1792-1868) the Italian composer, famous for his operas, sacred music, chamber music, songs, and some instrumental and piano compositions. His music was made up of song-like melodies, which inspired his nickname "the Italian Mozart". Following Rossini's death, Verdi proposed to collaborate with twelve other Italian composers on a "Requiem for Rossini", to be performed on the first anniversary of his death. The score was written, but the performance was abandoned shortly before its scheduled premiere.
