Croyland Abby. This was a most magnificent mitred Abby of Benedictines founded Ethelbald King of the Mercians about the Year 716 dedicated to St.Guthlake and St.Bartholomew.

Etching with large margins, very scarce. Platemark: 355 x 250mm. (14 x 9¾"). Small tears to lower and left edges of sheet. Glued to verso are articles from 'Antiquities found in Lincolnshire', including 'an account of an ancient shrine, formerly belonging to the Abbey of Croyalnd'.
A view from the south-west of the ruined west front and nave of the Medieval Abbey Church. Three figures climb over a wall in the left foreground. A short history of the abbey is inscribed below the print.
