Portrait of Isabella Bennet (c. 1668 - 1723), who married Henry Fitzroy (illegitimate son of Charles II by Barbara Villiers) aged four, becoming Duchess of Grafton in 1675. She also inherited her father's estate and title, becoming 2nd Countess of Arlington suo jure.

Scarce mezzotint. 140 x 105mm (5½ x 4"), with large margins. A good impression.
Engraved by Nicolaas Verkolje (1673-1746), who like his father Jan was a painter (influenced by Lairesse, van der Werff and Metsu) and printmaker. Supposedly after Frans Hals (1585 - 1666), who had died before Verkolje was born.
